Monterey Campground is a mountain sanctuary where travelers can hang out and rejuvenate while contemplating tomorrow’s adventures.
Our camp is an off-grid campground – a beautiful place for travelers to rest and refresh while surrounded by the majestic, mountain scenery of Highland County, Virginia.
The heart of our camp is the Clubhouse. There is a wood stove to warm the space on chilly evenings. The sleeping area contains three double bunks that accommodate up to six people. If you rent the entire Clubhouse, you and your group will have exclusive use of this space (including the porch) for the duration of your reservation.
The porch is a favorite hangout spot to socialize or simply experience afternoon as it turns into evening. You may see wild turkey, deer, eagle, or other wildlife, which are abundant on our property. Unless the entire clubhouse is rented out, tent campers are welcome to use the porch to relax.
Highland County is also known for its dark, night skies, which is why the Virginia Tourism Corporation lists our area as one of the top in the state for stargazing! On a clear night at our camp, you’ll see an amazing amount of stars and constellations. And if you’re planning a visit during September or October, check out our area’s annual night sky events hosted by the Highland County Star Gazers.
Additionally, Allegheny Motorcycle Tours operates out of Monterey Campground. Schedule a motorcycle tour during your stay, and experience some of the best motorcycle routes in Virginia!
